Tattoos In A Foreign Language...
Tattoos have become wildly popular over the last few years…hardly anyone I know doesn’t have at least one. The ones I get a kick out of are the ones in foreign languages like Chinese or Japanese. A friends son went and got his name tattooed in Japanese letters right about his privates. When he got home he showed his mom (I was there visiting), she thought it was funny. I asked him if he spoke Japanese and he said no. So I asked him how did he know it was his name. He kind of looked surprised. His mom said maybe it said Dumb*ss in Japanese or Sh*tface. She drove him nuts trying to guess what it might really say LOL. I don’t know if he ever found out for sure if it was his name or not but it makes me wonder…why would anyone put something like a permanent tattoo on their body without being 100% sure that it read what it was supposed to. Would you ever get a tattoo of your name in a foreign language? Would you trust someone to just put it on without checking first?~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~**STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**
Pinoy in a foreign land with foreign language, how did you cope?
Had been away from home for almost 6 yrs now but now & then i still feel the sting of discomfort not being able to express myself as exquitely as i can in English. I am here in Germany and in the city where i live, most people do not speak nur understand English words except for a few young ones and students who have taken an English language in school. Most times i find myself out of words for their language and it is really frustrating. I am not used to not being able to voice out. But now like i am imprisoned in a language barrier.Even with a number of Certificates i made in school (yes!i studied the language here), i still find my knowledge not enough. And i still can not speak with their tone - you know - its hard to sound like them. lolAnybody have undergone or is undergoing now this kind of dilemma? How did you cope up? How did you feel too? how did you finally get rid of the discomfort?
Learning a foreign language.
I've just signed up to learn a bit of French via the BBC website and if it goes well will probably look for some lessons locally.I had some French lessons in school but the way they teach languages in British Schools is often woeful, it certainly was at my school. Now I really want to learn and I'd like to go to France and perhaps look to move there one day so having a basic grasp of the language would be great.Did you learn a foreign language at school? Do you still use it? Is there a language you would like to learn and would you consider moving to a country that speaks it?

What's your way on learning a foreign language?
To master a foreign language may be the most difficult mission for the students. But it is necessary.I find my way to learn it.As most of Chinese students,I take the English as my foreign language.I know the most important thing to master English is to master its vocabulary first. And it's the obstacle for most of the English-learning students.I do this by contrasting with my first language.I recall the time when I was a little pupil learning our characters and try to remember the problems I met then. Those problems sometimes can be same with the ones I meet now.It can make me find some similar feelings with second language learning. If you really want to master a foreign language, you'd better get to know its culture well. This is also helpful for the vocabulary building. So what's your way on learing a foreign language? We can share our experience and make progress together.
