| Homeschooling | | I have recently started homeschooling my kindergarten daughter. When she started school she was already reading on a level equivalent to the end of the first grade year. She has been bored stiff in school so between her allergies to something in the school and that I have pulled her out. Does any other homeschooling mom or dad have advice for me? Anybody know places where I can get resources. Like an inexpensive book source. I love the abeka stuff, but I don't have the money to pay their prices. I have ebayed some, but it seems I only find bits and pieces of a curriculum. I would like to find a full second grade curriculum for next year without workbooks is fine I can buy new ones. Any ideas? | |
| | | Homeschooling, should it be banned? | | We homeschool, three kids, always have, yet we catch so much grief from people who say we aren't socializing our children enough for the real world. They believe they'll grow up with book smarts and nothing else. We also are acused of keeping money from the public school system by not enrolling our kids there. Seems to me, with three kids on A averages, we must be doing something right, or are the grades too much of a trade for what they're missing out on. I don't see that they're missing anything, do you? Has anyone had any esperiance with friends in this dilima? | |

| Homeschooling...what's your thoughts? | | I have homeschooled my daughter for several years. She started in a private school, then homeschooled at 4th grade. She wanted to try public so in 7th she went...lasted 1.5 yrs and then she begged to be home again. She has a full calendar with her friends, she is a well rounded soul and the future is hers to choose. She is in the 10th now and working on some college credits. Sometimes I wonder if I had left her in public school if she would have the same attitude and outlook on life that she has now. | |

Many people believe homeschooling is more beneficial, while others see it as a negative ... being detremintal to a childs social skills. | homeschooling your kids | | Hi, everyone. What do you all think of homeschooling. I know everyone has strong opinions on this. I homeschool both my boys, and have from day one. I know everyones main objestion is that they are not being socialized, but I can tell you that they have many friends from varoius groups we belong to, martial arts classes and church. They are very well rounded and well behaved kids. I believe that a lot of misbehavior and bad attitudes result from the public school invironment. And there are so many bad influences there, drugs, sex, etc.... And its also becoming very dangerous, you never know whats gonna be on the news next as far as things happening in schools. Anyone else out there homeschooling? I would love to hear from you and also anyone elses' opinion. | |
